Nrithya Sangeetha Academy started out as a small group in 2004 formed by Smt. Rathika Rajaloganathan who aimed to awaken a cultural dream in Milton Keynes. It began with small classes in dance and music helping young children to keep in touch with their heritage. The academy has now grown into a popular academy with nearly 200 students. The teaching staff comprises of very talented individuals, who are also accomplished teachers. They have galvanized the students into a talented unit which has performed on many occasions in the past, winning the appreciation of the viewers.

We have gone on from strength to strength since its inception in 2004. Many of our students have completed their Diploma in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic vocals. Children have also performed Bharathanatya and Vocal recitals at a variety of events including UK based television shows, temple festivals, local theatre and cultural events. We are also proud to say that we have made trips to India to perform, one in the prestigious hall “Music Academy'' and thereafter a television interview, the other one in Coimbatore.

Recently, twenty students accompanied by two teachers, were proud to produce the concept Dhasavatharam at Natyanjali 2020 in February as one of the prestigious events of Chidambaram, in South India.

Rathika’s tremendous experience in media and hosting events enables her a lot to conduct music classes and organise events in an orderly manner.

Film dancing (Bollywood)

The term Bollywood was created by combining two names, Bombay (the city now called Mumbai) and Hollywood. Bollywood dance form is basically the dance which is seen in bollywood movies. It’s a fusion of Indian classical, Indian Folk and Western dance.

Keyboard (Carnatic)

The term “carnatic music” refers to music performed in the expressive style of a vocalist. The origins of this musical style reside in southern India. Carnatic music is typically and precisely performed according to the original composition, though improvisation is allowed in some pieces.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

I have been fortunate to witness the growth of Nrithya Sangeetha Academy (NSA) from a small group of 4 students to over 200. NSA is a place where children and adults can come to learn a number of different art forms, socialise and meet new individuals in an informal & friendly atmosphere.

The growth and success of NSA is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Rathika and her team. I sincerely wish NSA, every success to becoming the foremost organisation for fine arts education in our community.
